Don't think so. Only if you were the one who pulled the trigger, gave him the pills or the rope to hang himself would you be a contributor. We ALL make our own choices- and the ability to MAKE or STOP somebody else from doing something is not as much as our responsibility as we'd like to think. If we could MAKE or STOP people from doing things, we could stop wars and rape and other bad stuff. But people CHOOSE what they will do- and you can't stop them without tying them to a chair. We simply can't go around tying each other to chairs to stop things from happening. Get grief counseling. If he was truly your friend, he wouldn't want you feeling like this.

1st it was not your fault. my cousin who i was very close to in high school, became very annoying in our senior year. it was exhausting and i wanted to enjoy my senior year. i called her a drama queen. she was always either very excited or very upset. while i was in a limo on prom night on the way to the beach with my friends; she hung herself. at her funeral i heard my aunt say bi-polar. i did not even know what it was. i blamed myself for many years, but after therpy i realized her choice was just that her CHOICE. do not blame yourself.

It wasn't your fault. It takes a lot of personal stuff for a person to do that, not anything another does.
