Im not okay with my best friend being gay

I finally admitted it to myself: I am NOT okay with my best friend being gay. I feel so selfish because I love him and I know we will never be anything more than friends. I want him to be happy but right now he's making a lot of bad choices and I wish I could do something. I'm so afraid of him getting hurt by someone who doesn't care about him. I wish I could be more supportive. I wish I could be a better friend but this is killing me. He doesn't know how I feel and it wouldn't be right for me to tell him. Everytime he mentions something about another guy, I go crazy! I feel like the worst person in the world. What kind of person can't unconditionally love and accept their best friend? I am not a homo-phob at all - I have a lot of gay friends and I'm fine with it, but why is it so hard to deal with with the only person that I really care about? I don't know what to do, sometimes I feel like he would be better off without me in his life

Maybe you love him, and wish you had him.
If that is so, which you might be denying to yourself, tell him.
He wouldn't go all "weird" on you or anything. Worth a stab.
