We've been together for 6yrs...and we were supposed to be the first of our group of friends to get engaged, because we've been together the longest. Now we're not the "first" and I feel horrible. I feel empty and sad. And I feel like I would be a "follower" if we were to get engaged now or months from now....what is wrong with you? Why did you not ask me "first"?

It doesn't matter who asked "first" what matters is if you're really with someone who wants to marry you. If he did he probably would have asked by now. If you're sure that you are both "in" the relationship then you ask him. The viewpoint that you have to be asked "first" so that you feel special is a little immature. You should feel special that you found the person you're going to be with until you die. Change perspective and re-evaluate. ELEVATE THIS ADVICESINK THIS ADVICE
