Losing My Kids
QuickCode :
I am a nanny and my kids are moving across the country. I never intended to get in this line of work, but it paid cash and I needed the extra money in college. I've watched the kids since they were born and now it's unlikely I'll ever see them again. What kills me the most is the littlest one is hardly two and he won't remember me. My name was one of his first words and in a little while he won't even know who I am anymore. I feel like they are partly my kids and they are being ripped away from me. Of course I have no say in any of this, so I have to sit quietly by and watch them leave. It's killing me.

It's tough, I have a few friends who were nannies - including a male who got into it because his girlfriend was a nanny. Anyway, all you can do is wish them well and send them a holiday card next year - maybe a photo of them with you and invite them to look you up the next time you're in town. Most importantly, get a letter of reference now while memories are still fresh. Keep your chin up and good luck!

I know how you feel. I work at a preschool and those kids are like mine. I mean not in a creepy way but you know I love them like they were mine. It kills me that they probably won't remember me when they're older because I'll know them. You're in a little different situation but maybe you can still mail letters, talk on the phone and make visits. Discuss it with the family and let them know you care and would like to keep in touch.
Best of luck!!!
