Are you honestly under the impression that he thinks that? Don't you realize that if he was actually going to break up with her he would've done it long ago? And if she knows about you, do you honestly think that he's not telling her the exact same thing? You go right ahead and continue doing what you're doing, but it's not going anywhere. He doesn't love you, or her, and he never will.
Also, why would he break up with her, so you could be "number one" if you're apparently so okay with being on the side? Why would he want to go through the work of having an actual relationship when he can just have the sex with no strings attached? This isn't going to end well for you.

Ive been on both sides of the spectrums, doesnt feel better on either side.
One guy said he'd loved me and was going to leave her-didnt work out
This guy said he'd made a mistake (6 times) and loved me-still waiting for this one not to work out.
