Coworker is a mess

I have a coworker who is a total mess. No one at work has the heart to tell her to her face that she needs help, but maybe she'll see herself here and make some changes for the better.

My coworker is an alcoholic drug addict with undiagnosed mental health issues and a 2-pack a day cigarette habit. I have NO idea how she has managed to hold her job this long, considering how often she's screwed up or called in "sick" or with other excuses. Her husband is also an alcoholic drug addict. Her teenage son is emotionally/socially impaired (probably due to her unstable mental health and lifestyle) but she doesn't care, she leaves him home alone all the time while she and her druggie friends go partying for days at a time.

If ANYONE I know needs help, it's this poor woman, but I think it will be a long time before she realizes she NEEDS help.

I think I know who you are talking about. She's the same woman who goes directly to the bar every single day after work. She smells like booze all the time, though, so I wouldn't be surprised if she's drinking during her lunch hour, too.

I just found out yesterday that this coworker is in some serious financial difficulties...her husband is unemployed and they have lost their house to foreclosure, and they can't pay all of their other bills/loans, either, but they both continue to drink/do drugs. WTF is THAT?!?!?!?

Apparently, they are clueless (though she's still managing to hang onto her job...I think our manager just feels sorry for her..she's definitely NOT an exemplary employee!)...and she and her husband are both so addicted/self-deluded that they think their substance abuse issues have nothing at all to do with the current state of their lives...*shaking head*

I feel most sorry for her teenage son...because of my coworker's manipulation and brainwashing, this boy completely gave up his entire relationship with his biological father to live SOLELY with her, and this is what he's gotten in return...what a shame...

Send her an anonymous types letter then, much more chance of her reading that than this. If she is such a mess and everyone else knows it, then she'll never know it was you.
