Friends dont last

I met my first best friend when I was 3 years old. We were really close, almost like sisters. Then one day we stopped talking to eachother around 7th grade for no reason. She was always making excuses when I called to get together. I tried giving her a call when she became a freshman at my school (I was in 10th grade at the time) to see if we could be friends again. She didn't return my call and I haven't spoken to her since. She's turned into a snobby girl who craves for attention. I tell people that I've gotton over our friendship... when truthfully I haven't. I'm a senior and it still really bothers me. I have a low trust in people now and I'm afraid that if I get close to someone, they'll just do the same thing as my first best friend did to me. What did I do wrong? Why can't I forget about her? Why did she turn into someone else? I guess I'll never know...
