Loving too much

I recently had a conversation with my girlfriend of 3 months after getting in a fight for no apparent reason. She started saying things to put me down and afterwards told me that she realized she was doing and but couldnt help it. Later on in the conversation I asked her why she would snap at me for no reason. She told me that she was afraid of getting too close to me and sometimes had to pick a fight to even things out if things were going along too good. She told me that she is so scared of getting close to me that she subconsciously pushes me away. I really care about her and I know she cares about me, but I dont know where to go from here or how to help her solve this problem. When we are together we are great, but the times we are apart she snaps for no apparent reason. I dont want to lose her or break up with her although i should from the abuse i take, I just wish there were other options.
