My Birthmark Makes Me Feel Ugly

QuickCode : birthmark

I have a small, albeit disgustingly ugly, birthmark on my cheek. It has caused social problems for me. People often do not even notice it, but I allow my hair to hang down in front of that side of my face, and I usually hold my head down even when talking to people. I never make eye contact with anyone because I fear I will see their eyes drift toward my birthmark. I never allow people to take pictures of me because my birthmark seems to show up more in pictures. It makes me feel ugly, and I very much hate myself and my ugly, deformed face. Sometimes I wonder why God gives people certain flaws (because I do believe in a God, or at least some sort of supernatural force if you want to call Him that). I wonder if God knew how much a little pinkie-nail sized brown spot would affect my life and my ability to talk to people worry-free?

I have a scar straight across my cheek, which I feel very self-conscious about. Whenever I see people (strangers) look at my face, I assume it's not because of the attractiveness of my features, but the scar on my cheek. I hate it too. That being said, I will NOT allow it to obstruct my ability to live my life/do my hair/approach whoever I think would be a good catch to date, and neither should you. The only thing holding you back is yourself, not your birthmark.

Your birthmark is what gives you character! It's what makes you beautiful, and beautifully unique. Hello, ever heard of Cindy Crawford?

I have a scar on my face that runs from in between my eyebrows down my nose, on the little indent under my nose, and down onto the bottom of my chin. I hate it. I've had it since I was 4 years old. I feel so ugly whenever people ask me about it. But I've learned to live with it. It's a part of me. Part of the scar looks like a lightning bolt, which of course brings up Harry Potter. People know me by it. You should look at it that way. Large, mole-like birthmarks and the skin discoloration birthmarks both run in my family too. I have one of each. The mole one is about the size of a quarter and on my lower back. I used to be so self concious about it whenever I would go swimming and also whenever my lower back showed between my pants and shirt. Now I just think, 'what the heck. It's a birthmark. Who cares?!' So don't feel too bad about it. Chances are, nobody would think twice about it. Besides, if people really like YOU, they shouldn't care about a birthmark.
