Why would you be embarassed? I know of two couples who have met online and are now together. It's not an uncommon thing, you know. And if people give you a hard time about it, then do they really matter to you much? Or maybe you don't like him as much as you think you do if you're not willing to admit the truth.

My HUSBAND and I met online. I didn't mind telling people, he on the other hand, was embarrassed at first because of the way our long distance relationship had to be. Finally he realized that he loved me no matter how he met me or how far away I was. I met his friends and family and everyone loved me. And guess what???
NO ONE CARED THAT WE MET ONLINE!
Maybe a little "Well holy crap, who woulda thought?"
But if it's real, it's real. And meeting online can be just as real as meeting on the street.

Ah I know exactly how you feel! I'm going to meet my best friend for the first time in my life but I'm embarassed enough to confess who my REAL best friend is. Let alone, I'm not even going to say I've met someone from online in the "real world". I think this kind of thing is better left being unsaid because people tend to be really close minded on this subject. Save yourself from awkward/embarassing situations. :) People just don't understand. period.
