Secret Lover, Never Tells..

I'm in love with my best friend of eight years, i don't want to ruin our friendship by telling him, but i'm considering it.. I only see him once a year for a week and thats in like 11 months,(i just saw him in july). So i think if i tell him, and givhim 11 months to think about it, things might calm down. And we might still be friends.. But any guys out there that are reading this, what would you say, do you think he might like me since i like him, if i give him time? he says he loves me like a sister. He freaks out at any jerks that say even the littlest thing about me.. He's sweet kind, and likes to be with me, as far as i know.. Any girls, do you know how i feel? I can arely stand to be away from him, i cant see him and not go over to talk to him.. It's a harsh thing, love is.. I need to know what to do.. Please help me..
