Smile Mama

My mom was sick. Not just a head cold sick, but staying in bed for 7 years sick. During those 7 years, I joined a soccer team. No one ever saw my games, mainly because my dad was working and my mom, of course, was sick.

I wanted to make mom happy so just about every game, I told her how well I played and how many goals I scored and who won. She didn't know that I stood in the back daydreaming and just kicking the ball the other way when it came anywhere near me. I never did score a goal, but it made my mom happy to hear I did.

All I wanted was to make my mom smile.
