the apartment gate

my apartment is hidden by a tree but i can still use my remote control to open the front gate. sometimes i sit on my couch and click the button to open the gate just before a car pulls up. it's funny to see them look around in confusion.
one day i clicked the gate and my friend who was in the parking lot heard a woman walking towards the gate say, "how does it always open just as i'm about to get to it?"
i hope i haven't ever let anyone bad into the apartments..
