The Fading of Love

For years I had you on a pedestal... you had such a spark in you that no one else I have ever met has had. Something happened along the way, maybe it was your marriage. You've become docile now, without any of the driving force that used to be in you- your personality has completely changed into something quite commonplace. I am disappointed in you- disappointed in who you have become, although you are happy. You, who said you would never lose "it"... I always thought that of all the people in the world, you'd be strong enough to hold onto it. A line from Alice in Chains reminds me of you.... "And if we change, well, I'll love you anyway"... I still do, but everything that we had in the early years of our friendship? It is gone. All we are holding onto is dead memories.
