They aren't the same

so I dated this guy for awhile after having my heart completely ripped apart by a different one. My boyfriend would joke around all the time about everything and I'd take anything he said and analyze it. I was always freaked out that i was gonna ruin our relationship or that if I let him in completely he'd hurt me. My plan didn;t work because he broke up with me. He told me I couldn't take a joke and he was always scared he was hurting my feelings. Now were really good friends and I'm always wondering what it would be like if I had been the way I was with him, but if I ever bring us up he always tells me some people just aren't meant for eachother.
