I am 37 and don't have anything but shallow assets.
I have no kids and have never been married. I have a career that I don't enjoy but I don't have the courage to start over.
I have never travelled further than 300 miles.
I've been in love twice, but blew it both times because I thought I wasn't ready for a serious relationship.
I'm not particularly good at anything.
I feel like my friends and family have meaningful lives and all I have is toys and casual dates.

Change one little thing at a time. Don't scare yourself with this huge list of faults(you might be the only one who views yourself this way). Have a think about things take it slowly..
Sometimes the hardest thing in life is admitting our faults. You have done this... Hard bit over!
Take it step at a time. And I can only say this if you haven't ventured far from home I don't think love and life has presented it's self to your door step... Venture a little further it may just be the answer to some of the questions you are searching for...Good luck and do not be so hard on yourself, life can be hard enough.

Start small and work up, the cayman islands are nice.
Start a martial art.
Kids and marriage don't define you, you define you, live your life how you want. If you want kids and marriage, find a woman, get married, and have kids. If you want something else chase that. Do what makes you happy, you don't have to conform to the social norms.

I know I must sound like a broken record but throughout your life things happen, and the things that have happened for your haven't been terrific, but you you know what they say, a tradgey is a triumph in discuise. Just don't lose faith in what life can do for you, and things will happen, you can count on it.

You can start by traveling far away. Take some vacations to an exotic land like Asia or South America.

Go out, BUY and read: "The Artist's Way" by Julia Cameron, and do it. You'll be glad you did. You are right to be disappointed. What you project IS what your life reflects. Change what you project, and the directions will change. You will notice something that has been missing in your life...hope.

Find out what you are truly passionate about in life, and run with it.
You seem to have figured out your problems, and that's the first step in solving them. If you've realized you only thought you weren't ready for a serious relationship, chances are you are ready and only afraid.
No matter how scary the unknown might be, you have to get out there.
