They want things simple. They want to be able to count on you. They want you to be able to take of yourself, and not to have to depend on them for everything. They want you to do your own laundry, make your own appointments, take care of your own bills, and every once in a while help with the dishes. That's all. (Oh, it also helps if you have your own transportation to take yourself to work.)
