Why didn't they tell me?

My mum got made redundant last October but my parents didn't tell me until mid-December. Now I'm scraed my dad's dying and they're trying to protect me again. I dream about it and wake up sobbing. I know he's not dying but at the same time... it's perfectly possible. I'm scared.
