Understand he's grasping at straws to justify his addiction. Stay on the right path and prove you're the better person by succeeding in life and turning your back to drugs and booze. Good luck!

Alcoholics are liars who will blame their problems on the Pope if they think they can get away with it- don't take it personally. You're dad's REAL problem was set up LONG before you EVER came into the picture. More likely he's jealous of you because YOU are everything he wants to be but will never be able to. Parents get jealous of their kids. Parents can be stupid.

What the other post said is VERY true: long-term alchoholics are notorius liars. This isnt just some "cover-up their addiction" lying but rather a change that takes place in the brain from long-term alchohol abuse. Search it on the web if you dont believe us, its a well-known, documented fact. Next week he could say its because of somebody else, or pile on even more into a web of lies so he can try claiming you are his real excuse. Either way, its something you are going to have to work through in your life, make sure you get some help for this because even if you think youre okay, it will bother you in the long-term. You deserve a rich, peaceful life...youre just going to have to work for it, which is something you are capable of; just by coming here youve shown that you know something needs to be repaired in your life.

I have an alcoholic father too. I know that your dad doesn't mean it when he says you're the reason he drinks. He's probably feeling like he's a failure and that he's let you down by drinking, and he's trying to blame it on you to hide the fact that the alcoholism is really his problem. It's just an excuse, so don't listen to him.

It is probably an excuse to your mother, so she won't be too worried about him. He probably wants to continue drinking, and places the blame on you. It isn't because he doesn't love you. It's because he knows that if you did find out, you would still love him anyways.

Its not about you. It has nothing to do with you. he has issues that he has not been able to confront/fix. You are doing all the right things. Do well in school, it is a way out. Remember to take care of yourself first. Love yourself and you will attract those that are comfortable in your presence. You are GOOD!! One time I brought home all A's but I had an A- although I also had 2 A+'s, my father could only ask why I had an A-! It has nothing to do with you. Do well in school and you WILL succeed.
